2018 Coin Programme

2018 Annual Mint Set - Irish Myths and Legends 

This set will commemorate Ireland’s many excellent folk tales. The set will be launched end of April and limited to an issue of 6,000 pieces.


There will be three silver proof commemorative coins issued in 2018.


€15 Silver Proof Rory Gallagher Coin, as part of the 3 coin Modern Irish Musicians Series –

This will be the first coin in a 3 year series called ‘Modern Irish Musicians.’ The Rory Gallagher coin will commemorate the 70th anniversary of his birth in 1948.

There will be 3,000 coins in this limited issue. This coin will be launched in June 2018. The other coins in this series will be issued to honour Phil Lynott (2019) and Luke Kelly (2020).


€15 Silver Proof Coin to Mark 100 Years since Women Were first Granted the Right to Vote in Ireland

This coin will mark the centenary since women were first granted the right to vote in Ireland in 1918. The coin will be launched in September 2018.


€15 Silver Proof Coin to Commemorate Bram Stoker’s Dracula

This coin will commemorate the life of Abraham Stoker, the author of the novel Dracula, which was published in 1897.

This coin will be launched the end of October to coincide with Halloween.


Call for 2019 Collector Coin Programme Theme Suggestions

Suggestions for themes for the collector coin programme 2019 are now invited by the Central Bank of Ireland.

Please email coindesign@centralbank.ie with your suggestions for coin themes for the Collector Coin Programme 2019. The closing date for receipt of submissions is  close of business. Friday 27 April 2018.
