The Irish 2009 Uncirculated Coin Set commemorates the 125th anniversary of the establishment of Cumann Lúthchleas Gael (GAA) with an attractive and informative display folder. Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) was founded on 1 November 1884, at Hayes’ Hotel in Thurles, Co. Today the GAA is the largest sporting organisation in Ireland with approximately 2,500 clubs and 800,000 members. The GAA prides itself on its amateur principles, and has a commitment to volunteerism as the cornerstone of the Association. It is dedicated to preserving Irish culture and language, promoting a community spirit through its clubs, members and many loyal volunteers.
