In 1928, a new Irish coinage was introduced. The eight new denominations featured a wonderful series of animal designs reflecting Ireland’s agriculture-based economy. The elegant designs were the work of Percy Metcalfe and they have been revered by collectors ever since. Now, three of the animals that featured on the original 1928 coins (horse, salmon and wolfhound) return to form part of the “New Generation” by Emmet Mullins. These three coins, originally issued individually, have been combined for a limited issue Three-Coin Set. This Proof Coin Set has a strict issue limit of just 1,000. The coins are taken from their original issue limits - no additional coins have been struck for inclusion in this set.
