€2 Proof Coin 2016
1916 Remembered: The Centenary of the Proclamation
For the centenary celebration of the Easter Rising and the Proclamation of the Irish Republic the Central Bank of Ireland is issuing a commemorative €2 coin into circulation – the first to be issued to mark an event in Irish history. Central to its design is the figure of Hibernia who stands atop the GPO building in Dublin. Hibernia bore witness to the events of 1916 and for the one hundred years since she has seen the nation blossom before her. She continues to look forward and is a symbol of the past, present and future of this country. Designed by Emmet Mullins this commemorative coin is offered to collectors in a range of affordable and collectable presentations. This limited edition €2 proof quality collector coin is issued in its own presentation case and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
